This is a critical campaign in Australia’s environmental history. We urge you to come along, bring your neighbours, friends and family and lend weight to the battle to stop Adani’s destructive Carmichael project.
Speaker – Nell Schofield
The documentary will be introduced by Nell Schofield, actor turned activist, whose passion is bringing the creative sector and the environment movement together. Nell has worked as Project Manager for Solar Citizens and helped spearhead the Land Water Future campaign in NSW as Sydney Coordinator with Lock the Gate.
In 2007, Nell trained with Al Gore as one of his Climate Leaders and has worked in the Office of the Lord Mayor of Sydney on local government issues. She has also worked as a presenter with ABC TV, Showtime, CNN and Channel 9, and as a broadcaster with Radio National.
Guarding the Galilee
Presented by Queensland born actor Michael Caton, Guarding the Galilee is a 30 minute documentary on the battle to stop the biggest coal mine in Australian history, Adani’s Carmichael project.
The award-winning documentary team captures the raw beauty of the Queensland outback, where Adani’s mine threatens essential water resources.
Just downstream from the proposed mine, a grazier fears for the impact on the river that quenches the thirst of his cattle, and flows to the Coral Sea.
On the coast, a boat owner operating out of the Airlie Beach tourist hotspot worries about hundreds of extra ships steaming through the Great Barrier Reef each year.
Meet these and many others engaged in the fight and find out what mining billionaire Guatam Adani has planned for Australia.
Donations for the Stop Adani campaign will be gratefully accepted at the door.
Understorey: the campaigns to protect the south east forests
On the same night we will also be showing ‘Understorey’ a film made by David Gallan which outlines the four decades long campaign to save the NSW south east forests from wood chipping, and features unique wildlife footage in our forests.
When: 8pm Tuesday 16 May 2017
