The heat has also been turned up on over-packaging and plastics. Plastic pollution is killing hundreds of marine species, contaminating our human food chain, despoiling landscapes, and dumping finite resources. Following its successes in CDL reforms, the Total Environment Centre is taking on the big supermarkets in calling for a reduction in plastic packaging. While the supermarkets have taken some actions to address plastics they are still overdoing the wrapping of ever-smaller pieces of fruit and vegetables and generating mountains of single-use plastic bags every year. You can find out more and join the campaign to end wasteful plastic packaging here.
