At the July WEPA meeting we will be screening ‘Understorey’ a breathtaking documentary made by David Gallan which outlines the four decades long campaign to save the NSW south east forests from wood chipping and features unique footage of the forests’ diverse wildlife.
When: 8pm Tuesday 18 July 2017
Where: Glenaeon School Hall
121 Edinburgh Road, Castlecrag
No charge, supper provided.
In 2019 the Regional Forest Agreement (RFA), which underpins the native forest industry in this region will expire. The National Parks Association (Far South Coast Branch) have flagged that the government preference is for an automatic rollover with no public consultation. We agree with them that this is unacceptable.
The NPA is hosting a forest forum on 11 June 2017 at the Tathra hall, which will start a campaign to promote the message that there are better uses for our native forests than woodchipping and that alternative forest strategies are available.
WEPA will seek an update from this campaign to share with members at our July meeting.
