Willoughby City Council has released a brief video on the Council’s declaration last October (2019) of a climate emergency. It features a number of members of the community. The first, middle and last voice you will hear is that of long-term WEPA leader and now WEPA Vice-President, Gay Spies. Well done Gay for speaking out on behalf of our community as you have done for decades!
After the Council voted down the declaration motion at an earlier meeting, members from WEPA and a number of other environmental groups worked hard to alert the community and gain their support. Emails and letters poured in from the community and, on the night of the meeting, 12 members of the Willoughby community spoke at the council meeting with great clarity and passion.
