We sincerely thank you for supporting WEPA in 2025.
It’s been a mixed year for the environment, but we’ve been busy working to get better outcomes for our local nature, with highlights including –
- Willoughby Council and WEPA working together to discourage the use of synthetic spider webs for Halloween.
- Submissions to Local, State, and Federal Government calling for better regulation and processes to support sustainable development, contain roaming cats and deter illegal tree clearing.
- Co-hosting a Meet the Candidates event, which attracted around 200 people eager to hear and question candidates about their environmental policies.
- Attending Council’s MOSAIC centre to explain the benefits of induction cooking to a Chinese cultural group, establishing a connection for future events.
- Hosting a public WEPA event at the Dougherty Centre on The Challenge of Conserving our Urban Tree Canopy.
- Improving our green space at National Tree Day in July.
- Running a very successful stall publicising the work we do at the Castlecrag Fair in November.
- And our Secretary, Heidi Key, received the 2025 award for Willoughby Environmental Citizen of the Year!
